Course Records and Confidentiality The student, or the student’s legal guardian, authorizes Horizon Driving School to collect, maintain, and transmit the student’s course records and personal information as required by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO). All information will be kept strictly confidential and shared only in accordance with MTO directives for approved Beginner Driver Education (BDE) programs. Certification and Course Completion Students will be electronically certified upon successful completion of the course with a minimum passing grade of 70% in all in-class, e-learning, and in-car assessments, as mandated by the MTO. Ontario driving schools are not authorized to issue driver’s licence certificates. Students must obtain a Driver’s Licence History (DLH) from ServiceOntario for a fee of $12. Course Duration and Time Limits MTO regulations require that the course be completed within one (1) year from the course start date. Students who do not complete the program within this timeframe will be required to re-enroll, and additional fees will apply. Horizon Driving School does not provide or honor services beyond 364 days from the course start date. In-Car Lesson Requirements Students must be ready and present at the agreed-upon time for all in-car lessons. A valid G1 driver’s licence must be presented at every in-car session. Payment and Refund Policy All fees paid to Horizon Driving School are non-refundable. Credit may be issued for future use or transferred to another individual. Private (individual) lessons must be paid in full prior to the scheduled in-car session. Cancellations and Missed Appointments Horizon Driving School reserves the right to cancel in-car lessons on short notice due to weather conditions or circumstances beyond our control. In the event of extenuating circumstances, such as a death in the family, missed lessons may be excused without penalty. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, without valid justification, will result in the forfeiture of the scheduled lesson. Dishonored Payments A $35.00 fee will be charged for any dishonored or returned payments. All outstanding balances must be paid in full before in-car lessons may begin or continue. Non-Payment and Outstanding Balances All lesson fees, deposits, and in-car training costs are non-refundable. If payment terms are not met, services will be suspended until all outstanding balances are cleared. Students are responsible for reviewing and agreeing to all terms and conditions prior to enrollment, as required by the MTO. Changes to Course Delivery Method Effective January 1, 2023, any changes to the method of delivery of the BDE course (e-learning or classroom) will be subject to a $65.00 administrative fee. Withdrawal from E-Course or Classroom Program If a student chooses to withdraw from their e-course or classroom program, all completed content will be forfeited. The student will be required to restart the course if they choose to re-enroll.
